Apple officially revealed its flagship iPhones for 2020: the estimated price of BDT95,000, iPhone 12 Pro and BDT106,700 12 Pro Max, with 5 G support and a new squared-off style reminiscent of the iPhone 4. It's also the first major update for Apple's full-screen smartphones since the bezel-less style was launched in 2017 with the iPhone X.
The 6.1 inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7 inch iPhone 12 Pro Max are both larger than the 5.8 inch iPhone 11 Pro and 6.5 inch iPhone 11 Pro Max of last year. In particular, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max is noteworthy for taking the crown as Apple 's largest phone to date. The Pro models sport a stainless steel style in four colors: gray, stainless steel, gold, and a new blue (instead of the aluminum on the iPhone 12).
5 G is one of the major new additions to this year's models. Both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5 G will be enabled by the iPhone 12 Pro, meaning both phones can work with all the different forms of 5 G networks from all three big US carriers. Apple says it has "the most 5 G bands of any smartphone," ensuring that a wide variety of wireless networks around the world and their varying 5 G requirements will be enabled.
The latest iPhone 12 Pro models will feature Apple's A14 Bionic chip, first unveiled last month on the refreshed iPad Air, previously claimed by VP Greg Joswiak to be Apple's "most powerful chip ever made." The new chip is the first to use a 5 nm process by Apple (instead of the 7 nm process used on the A13 Bionic last year). Apple claims the latest 6-core CPU and the four-core GPU are the fastest ever, with the company saying performance is up to 50 percent faster than any other handset.
A LIDAR sensor, which, like the iPad Pro, can be used for additional AR effects, is also new and exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro models. Apple also states that in low-light conditions, the LIDAR scanner can be used to aid focus, allowing autofocus for low-light photography up to six times quicker. It also makes shots of Night Mode portrait photography
"Ceramic Shield" technology, which Apple claims promises glass that is harder than any other smartphone display, is now available in the latest iPhone 12 Pro models with four times improved "drop output" when it comes to stopping the handset from shattering when dropped.
Like last year's iPhone 11 Pro models, Apple is once again offering a triple-camera system on both the iPhone 12 Pro, with 12-megapixel wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide camera lenses. The wide camera now offers a faster Ę/1.6 aperture, which Apple says offers 27 percent improved low-light performance, while the 52 mm focal telephoto now offers 4x optical zoom.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max further extends the camera system. With a 65 mm focal length, there's a new 12MP telephoto that can zoom in up to 2.5 times optically. With f/1.6 apeture and a new OIS device, there's a new large camera. The wide sensor is also 47 percent wider, combining for 87 percent improved low-light output with the lower aperture.
Apple also teased a new feature named "Apple ProRAW" that will be available later this year on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The company promises that, along with the versatility of RAW images, it would give new device photography advantages such as its Deep Fusion and Smart HDR.
The new iPhone 12 Pro phones will also be able to shoot HDR video, a first for the product line, including direct Dolby Vision HDR shooting support. Dolby Vision HDR video can also be edited directly from the Photos app on the iPhone 12.
The two iPhone 12 Pro models, including the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, will also be compatible with the recently released MagSafe wireless chargers and accessories from Apple that offer magnetically mounted cases, charging pads, and even wallet attachments.
As part of the company 's continuing sustainability priorities, Apple will also withdraw its bundled USB wall bricks and wired EarPod headphones from the packaging on the new iPhones, a transition that parallels the company's decision to remove wall bricks from its Apple Watch smartwatches earlier this year. However, Apple will also have a USB-C to the Lightning cable in the charging case.
There are also two more new iPhones besides the two flagships. You will learn about the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini, which are expected to replace last year's iPhone 11 edition.
The iPhone 12 Pro will start at BDT95,000 (expected) , and with 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB storage options, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at BDT 106,700 (expected). Preorders for iPhone 12 Pro will begin on Friday, October 16, and will ship on October 23, a week later, while on November 6, iPhone 12 Pro Max will see preorders and ship on November 13.
