Apple's iPhone 13 may still be a ways away, but here's what we know so far.
With the iPhone 13 just a few months away from release, we've already started to see many rumors about what Apple had in store for us when the phone crashed.
From what we've heard so far, the iPhone 13 will feature a 120Hz LTPO display on both Pro models, improving battery life for a more efficient 5G modem, as well as providing substantial upgrades to all critical cameras. These include the cheaper iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini with a leather sensor and a new portrait video mode.

As for the design, we heard the groove is compressed. Some more rumors have suggested that at least one iPhone 13 model could have a genuinely portless plan, but it has now been completed. We can charge Magsaf now. Eventually, we would always see a display as well.

Despite delays related to the coronavirus facing the iPhone 12, pushing its launch until October 13, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the iPhone 13 will return to a general release schedule in 2021.
iPhone 13 price
A report by analyst Ming-Chi Ku said that Apple would again offer four sizes for the iPhone 13 so the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro is the maximum.
We expect these will cost the same as the iPhone 12 range, so 9699, 799, $ 999, and 0 1,099 respectively. Apple tends to keep its price structure relatively stable from generation to generation, so we don't expect any increase in sticker prices.
iPhone 13 name
Since Apple moved from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 12 last year, initial rumors about this fall iPhone have used the iPhone 13 as the next model's name. However, some recent stories have referred to the unpublished iPhone under a different name - the iPhone 12.
Slapping an "S" at the end of a model number would return the form to Apple, which had the option of releasing the same model number the following year and then an "S" version of the same phone. The latest phone to fit that pattern was the iPhone 6S, which was released in 2015 (technically, the 2018 iPhone XS may be part of that naming scheme, although, at the same time, Apple introduced the iPhone XRO.)
The "s" model of the iPhone usually indicates that the phone has a lot in common with last year's version, save for a few key improvements. So whether Apple goes with the iPhone 12s or the iPhone 13, as the name suggests, will tell a lot about how different this year's phone is.
iPhone 13 design
A report from Mac Otacara, speaking to sources in the Apple supplier chain, said that the iPhone 13 design would eventually provide a thinner notch. This can be done by removing the top speaker.
A new leak from claimed "industry sources" also mentions that the iPhone 13 will have a small notch. Apple will reduce this notch by mixing seemingly isolated infrared flood illuminators, sensors, and dot projectors, transforming the iPhone 12's Face ID unlocking system into a single module into two smaller sensors.
If you want an item like this, LetsGodigital has released some iPhone 13 renders - which are labeled as iPhone 12S Pro - that feature a small notch with Apple's phone and a Touch ID sensor on the phone's Display.
Furthermore, the iPhone 13 can be a bit thicker, allowing for a larger battery.
The most significant change we can expect from the iPhone 13 is that a model may have a portless design, excluding the power port, and charging and data transfer can be operated wirelessly. This could be a radical change from the iPhone 12, but it could gradually reduce its reliance on ports and bundled chargers and cables for the smartphone world. (Apple has already taken such a step without including any charger with the iPhone 12)
But Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently argued that there would be no portless iPhone 13, "MagSafe's ecosystem isn't mature enough at the moment, so the iPhone will continue to use power ports in the future."
With that in mind, Apple could introduce a way to integrate Face ID into the bezel of the iPhone 13. Last but not least, the hanging Ben Gaskin embedded the TruePath system completely, revealing a render on Twitter detailing how the system works and the earpiece inside the handset's top bezel.
Another rumor suggests that Apple may remove the Face ID sensor technology currently on the display knots of modern iPhones. However, this means that the iPhone 13 will have a larger display bezel to hold the sensor technology; Take this loop with a dose of doubt.
We can expect an iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max out there, but things aren't so clear whether the iPhone 13 Mini will be there.
The iPhone 12 Mini did not sell very well, and it could be considered a flop. It has led to speculation that it could be shut down. But in a new leak, the iPhone will still press 13 minutes to come.
iPhone 13 Touch ID
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is working to provide an in-display fingerprint sensor for the iPhone 13. This will be in addition to Face ID.
A separate report in the Wall Street Journal details that Apple will use a new in-screen optical fingerprint sensor to remove Touch ID. Samsung phones use an ultrasonic reader, but the claim is that the visual diversity may be more accurate in Apple's implementation.
A separate analyst report from Barclays analyst Andrew Gardiner states that the iPhone 13 will provide Touch ID at the bottom of the screen.
Capertino has never released an iPhone with Face ID and Touch ID, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that Apple is trying to add a screen fingerprint sensor to its 2021 devices.
Kuo noted that Apple saw the two biometric technologies as complementary, likely to work well together, so we probably got to see the iPhone 13 Sport's Face ID and Touch ID. While the current version of Face ID doesn't recognize masked people and Apple has updated the iOS software to better connect its face users, we suspect the company needs to think about getting back at least a Touch ID.
However, in the following report, Kuo then claimed that the iPhone 13 would not get a Touch ID.
A patent sought by AppleInsider sheds light on how Cupertino might be able to pull it off, including a sophisticated in-display system that uses an array of microlenses to focus on a subject's fingerprints. Theoretically, this would improve readability which is usually reduced by the clarity of the screen.
iPhone 13 display
If Apple holds four of the 13 models of the iPhone, we can expect the displays to measure 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches, and 6.7 inches.
ET News reports that Apple will accept a 120Hz refresh rate for the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max. This will allow for smooth scrolling as well as improved gameplay and video playback.
That leak was given more credibility by a more recent one that the two iPhone 13 Pro models will get a 120 120 Hz display that will dynamically scale its refresh rate up or down depending on what is being seen courtesy of an LTPO panel from Samsung. This will help save battery life.
And the nature of the LTPO panel means it doesn't require additional components under the Display to enable an adaptive refresh rate, meaning phones with such screens can play a thin chassis. On the iPhone 13, an LTPO display will allow the phone to have a tremendous smooth refresh rate and keep the iPhone 12's neat frame.
The recently leaked iPhone 13 has tips for using an always-on display; LTPO technology can certainly be handy. And a recent video shows how it can work. Always On Display finally gives Apple's iPhones a feature that Android phones have had for some time.
LG and Samsung can provide displays for the iPhone 13 as they are the top manufacturers of OAELD panels. However, a Chinese supplier, BOE, maybe in the mix as a potential source for the iPhone 13 screen.
iPhone 13 specs
As the night follows, we can expect a chip upgrade for the iPhone 13 more than its predecessor. Perhaps it will come in the form of the A15 Bionic, the successor to the extremely powerful A14 Bionic on the iPhone 12.
This new system-on-a-chip (SC) could be a good upgrade over the A14 Bionic, possibly enhancing overall performance and efficiency. A significant upgrade is probably not seen until the iPhone 14, while Apple could build a chip based on a 4-nanometer process node. Currently, the A14 Bionic is a 5nm chip inside the iPhone 12.
On the storage front, we can expect that the iPhone will start at 13 GB4 GB and 512 GB, although the new analyst report will continue to get the iPhone 13 storage up to 1 TB. This will give it the most powered storage of any iPhone.
The iPhone 13 can also get a considerable boost in terms of wireless connectivity. Documentation of Apple's settlement with Qualcomm reveals that Apple plans to use Qualcomm's X60 5G modem on the original iPhone, possibly including the iPhone 13.
This is important because the 5nm X60 modem can integrate directly into a phone's chipset, which means a shorter footprint and lower battery drain. Also, 5G performance should be better, as the modem can combine MimeWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G networks. A separate report from Digitimes confirmed that the iPhone 13 would receive the new Qualcomm X60 modem.
Besides, the iPhone 13 is recommended to come with Wi-Fi 6E, a variant of the Wi-Fi 6 standard that will support faster wireless speeds.
The Digitimes report indicated that the iPhone 13 could adopt liquid crystal polymer circuit boards for imaging purposes, resulting in faster data transmission. The addition of LCP boards combined with 5G connections can speed up applications such as live streaming or augmented reality.
When it comes to storage, we don't expect any upgrades other than the iPhone 12, such as we predict the iPhone 13 will come in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants.
The iPhone 12 models did not wow in our battery life test. Only the iPhone 12 Pro Max has been impressed with its large battery. However, another report by Ming-Chi Kuo on the so-called soft battery technology in the iPhone 13 claims that the new iPhones can increase battery power without increasing the design footprint. Apple may decide to offer similar capabilities even in thinner designs.
Quick battery drain can keep the 5G phone; we hope the iPhone 13 will find a way to earn as much life as possible from any battery pack. And if the iPhone 13 doesn't come with a port, we'd expect Apple to bring wireless charging faster, so we won't have to wait a few hours for the handsets to fill up with electric juice.
Finally, a recent leak from John Prosper claims that the iPhone 13 Pro will come with up to 1TB of internal storage. This will double the maximum storage capacity of current-gen iPhones.
iPhone 13 camera
We haven't heard much about the whole iPhone 13 range yet, but in a nutshell, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are delivering a new 6-component ultraviolet lens. It will also provide autofocus capabilities. Current iPhone 12 Pro models sport a 5-component ultraviolet angle lens. The more material a lens has, the better the image quality as a rule.
An interesting rumor has surfaced that Apple has suggested that Apple is looking for suppliers of "folded lens" cameras to improve the iPhone 13's optical camera zoom. The periscope-like design means the telephoto lens will be stacked vertically instead of horizontally, which means you can increase the optical magnification without increasing the phone's size.
This design is commonly used by other phone makers, including Samsung and Huawei, to enhance their optical zoom capability. It is still unclear which iPhone 13 model will get improved zoom.
Speaking of zooming, the iPhone 13K has also been suggested to get camera upgrades that help it shoot better in the night sky and provide portrait mode video.
An upgraded ultra-wide camera on all iPhone 13 models can support any dedicated astrophotography mode. And a lot like when you enable night mode in low-light environments, you will activate this mode when you point the wires or the phone to the moon.
In another leak, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max suggest complete sensor-shift OIS (optical image stabilization) and fully ultraviolet-angle camera lenses with automatic focus features.
When portrait video mode is enabled, it will offer a blurred background in the video footage, allowing you to customize the depth of field after shooting so you can dial in the blurry effect after natural. No specific details are given about whether it can be used on any iPhone 13 camera or just select a few.
